Astral Thicket Abstract Paintings

Astral Thicket began with Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken" — a poem I've written into each of my three sons' graduation dedications. The base stain is boiled from walnuts harvested in my own yard, layered with crushed oil and wax pigments and lifted by pops of dusty pastel. Each painting is a forest disappearing and a night sky twinkling at once — deep navy, plum, sage, and warm ochre, dense and luminous. Original oil and mixed media on canvas, from my Nashville studio.
